Del Mar California is a beautiful resort town just north of downtown San Diego. It’s a seaside paradise with gorgeous beaches bordering the Pacific. If you like to watch the ponies then check out the Del Mar Horse Track in beautiful Del Mar California. Open since 1937, Bing Crosby was there to greet the first fans to enter on opening day. Since then it’s been a hot spot for celebrity types to spend some time in the summer. Mickey Rooney, Jimmy Durante and Betty Grable to name a few. Every year the stands are packed with excited fans waiting to see their favorite horses and jockeys perform. Many legendary jockeys have graced these tracks, such as Bill Shoemaker and John Longden. The Del Mar Horse Track has become famous throughout the years and has been an important part of sports history.
